Pafos Wine Routes

Follow the path of the Gods

The tradition of wine-making is a long and rich one in Cyprus. Wine, the gift of god Dionysus to mankind, is associated not only with the nutritional habits of Cypriots, but also with religious and popular traditions connected with their cultural heritage.

The Wine Routes are a special form of agrotourism created to maintain and promote this heritage. There are selected routes for visitors to follow, which pass through the most picturesque areas and wineries. You are welcome to taste local wines paired with traditional appetizers and titbits, and to explore nearby traditional villages, archaeological sites, museums, etc.

Wine tourism can grow in harmony with the natural environment. It will offer you the opportunity to learn about each destination, its local viticulture and wine-making traditions. Local restaurants, taverns, eateries and hotels will offer you traditional hospitality, as part of Cyprus and its culture.

Get to know the wonderful Cyprus wines by wine-tasting and try the grape based delicacies in the traditional villages, old monasteries or wine museums. The CTO (Cyprus Tourism Organization) organizes seven wine routes where visitors can get acquainted with the island’s enchanting and humble wineries.

In particular, Pafos region has 3 official Wine Routes that you can follow and they are among the most beautiful ones. The Laona-Akamas, the Vouni-Ambelitis, and the Diarizos river valley routes.
